The catechism says in paragraph 2013, "All Christians in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity." All are called to holiness: "Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.””
It’s true that Jesus is perfect, and Jesus wants us to be perfect, because God is perfect and we’re made to be perfect. BUT. Jesus revealed our TRUE identity. We are sons and daughters of God. But there’s more to that catechism paragraph…
The catechism actually goes on to say, "In order to reach this perfection the faithful should use the strength dealt out to them by Christ's gift, so that ... doing the will of the Father in everything, they may wholeheartedly devote themselves to the glory of God and to the service of their neighbor.”
We are called to do our best, and rely on God for the rest. Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit, and the sacraments to give us strength.

What is God's plan for salvation?
God has a plan of loving goodness for our salvation. God has revealed the law to us by writing it on our hearts and clarifying it through the Ten Commandments. God also gives us grace to respond in love, following Jesus’ example.

Are people inherently good or evil?
Movies and pop culture sometimes like to portray characters as “good guys” and “bad guys”. In real life, not many of us want to be the villain, but we’ve all done things we’re not proud of. Do you hold onto hope that you’re a “good person” despite your failings?
