Nobely-born, wealthy, captivating, and headstrong, Teresa de Ahumada was an unlikely timber for a great work of renovation. She spent the last twenty years of her life in a whirlwind of activity as the founder of the Discalced or reformed branch of the Carmelites in Spain.
