St. Luke's Gospel is often called "The Gospel of Mercy" because it reveals so powerfully the love that Jesus has toward the outcast, the forgotten, and the downtrodden. St. Luke's gospel contains the Infancy Narrative, the parables of the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son, and the story of Zacchaeus. Culminating in the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ, this gospel also contains the moving and paradigmatic story of Christ walking with the disciples on the Road to Emmaus after his Resurrection, which highlights the love of Jesus toward his children.
