O dicionário define moralidade como “um sistema de ideias de condutacorreta ou errada.” O problema hoje é que a nossa cultura não aceita que há um padrão absoluto para certo e errado. Ao invés disso, muito daquilo no que o mundo acredita está fundamentado sobre o relativismo moral: a ideia de que não existe realmente certo ou errado, verdade ou falsidade—tudo o que importa é o que cada um pensa e sente que seja o correto. Qualquer lei moral que se aplique a todos é vista como uma restrição da própria liberdade.
Isso está em absoluto contraste com o ensinamento Católico, que afirma que viver uma vida moral de acordo à guia que Deus nos deu é a chave para a verdadeira felicidade e liberdade. De acordo com o pensamento Católico, a moralidade é o mapa que nos ajuda a construir uma vida que nos permite ser o que Deus os criou para ser. Mais do que ser restritiva, a moralidade nos liberta do pecado e da escravidão dos nossos próprios desejos egoístas.
