El Catecismo nos recuerda, “La virtud es una disposición habitual y firme a hacer el bien." (CIC 1803). Hay dos distintos tipos de virtudes: las virtudes humanas y las teologales. Las virtudes humanas involucran nuestro intelecto y voluntad, y son la prudencia, justicia, templanza y fortaleza. Estas virtudes humanas están enraizadas en las virtudes teologales. Son llamadas teologales porque son regalos de Dios, y están dirigidas hacia Dios. Las virtudes teologales son tres: fe, esperanza y caridad.
