Al centro del Catolicismo se encuentra la celebración de la Sagrada Liturgia. De hecho, el Concilio Vaticano II enseña que "la Liturgia es la cumbre a la cual tiende la actividad de la Iglesia y al mismo tiempo la fuente de donde mana toda su fuerza" (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 10). En otras palabras, toda la actividad de la vida cristiana está conectada en cierta manera a la liturgia, y al mismo tiempo toda la gracia y el poder para vivir la vida cristiana nos viene de la liturgia.
