The starting point for discipleship is not a desire or willingness to follow to particular way of life. The starting point for discipleship is an encounter with Jesus, who loves us unconditionally - for who we are and just as we are. St. Peter discovered that truth when Jesus approached him at what must have been the lowest point of his life, when he was filled with remorse and perhaps self-condemnation for denying his Lord. What Jesus did for Peter- the change he worked in his life- he wants to do for you as well.
