El día que Jesús fue bautizado, el Espíritu Santo lo ungió. Inmediatamente después de esto, el Espíritu Santo lo condujo al desierto. El desierto era un lugar de aislamiento, muerte y derrota; pero Jesús fue llevado al desierto para cambiarlo por siempre. Para que fuera un lugar de gracia. El Espíritu llevó a Jesús al desierto y también lo protegió y lo cuidó mientras estuvo allí. El desierto es parte de la vida de todo cristiano, pero no tiene que ser un lugar de desesperación y aislamiento. El Espíritu Santo está presente en el desierto de la vida y cuando experimentamos su presencia, nuestra vida espiritual cambia. El desierto no es más un lugar al que temer, sino que puede ser un encuentro profundo con Jesús.
