Alright, so we're sons and daughters in the Son. But what does this mean? As we read earlier, it means that we're given a great many gifts. We're mercifully given the grace of the forgiveness of our sins. We're also given a share in the life of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. But there's another gift we haven't yet covered. It's the gift of being called to share in the mission of the Son, the mission of Jesus Christ. And what is Christ's mission? It's a mission of communion. It's a mission to bring all of fallen humanity and the rest of creation, by the power of the Holy Spirit, back to the Father. As John Paul II puts it, "The ultimate purpose of mission is to enable people to share in the communion which exists between the Father and the Son" in their Spirit of Love.
