The desire for holiness. To make a good Ignatian retreat, it's important to begin with an ardent desire for sanctity. So, I'd like to start right off by asking, do you want to be a saint? In other words, do you desire to be on fire with love for God and neighbor? If you can answer such questions with a full and enthusiastic "Yes!" that's great. I suspect, though, that many of us just might find that our true response to such questions may not be so full and enthusiastic. In fact, our true response might be closer to something like, "Well, I used to want to be a saint, but now I'm not so sure." This session is especially for those whose yes to wanting to become a saint might not be completely full.
