Levels 1 and 2 aren't bad; they simply aren't enough. Though it may seem easy to get stuck in the pursuit of pleasure or status, we all have deeper needs that call us to higher levels of happiness. It can be difficult to overcome habits that focus on the lower levels, but the effort brings us closer to our true self and gives us a liberating and renewed sense of our real purpose.
Once we move outside ourselves (past Level 2) to a concern for others (Level 3), we are faced with the wider world in which we discover a loving Creator calling us to our transcendent destiny (Level 4) and a shared eternal relationship with him.
